Department of Climate Change

Yorke Peninsula

Client Sectors:

State & Federal Government

Relevant Expertise:

The Department of Climate Change engaged AWE, in conjunction with others including the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), Finlaysons Lawyers and EconSearch Research Economists, to undertake case studies of climate change impacts on Marion Bay, Moonta Bay and Port Broughton.

The case studies identified the natural and built 'assets' most at risk, appropriate (& costed) adaptation responses, and the implications for government planning and approval processes.

Following assessment of climate change drivers (sea level, rainfall and air temperature) and existing biophysical data, such as mean sea level, hydrogeology and hydrology, AWE identified likely impacts of hazard events that could be exacerbated by climate change.
