AWE was engaged by the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Natural Resource Management Board to develop an environmental monitoring program (water quality, flow and ecological) to ascertain the future eco-hydrological needs and management framework of Buckland Park Lake.

The project required a range of ecological and hydrological reviews, including macro-invertebrate monitoring, flow and water quality modelling, and vegetation assessments. A risk assessment was conducted to determine the impacts current and potential future Lake management strategies could have on migratory seabirds and their potential to use the Lake for roosting and foraging.

The series of recommendations will build towards developing a long term strategy for facilitating migratory seabirds roosting and foraging in South Australia.
